The Big In-Between

day 064: recycled magazine bows

It’s that in-between time of year. “Merry Christmas” is past, and it’s a little early for “Happy New Year.” Around my house things are in a strange kind of limbo.  My husband’s off work, so it feels like the weekend, but there’s still things to do-an errand to the cable company or the post office and the ever-present laundry.  Christmas presents still litter the living room, and there’s gift cards to spend among them.  Luckily there aren’t any returns this year, but I also should go buy new clothes for my fast-growing kids while they’re  on sale (the clothes, not the kids).

It’s easy for me to lose track of time during this week. Without the routine of work or school, I wake up thinking “What day is it?”  It’s both disconcerting and liberating at the same time.  It’s nice to realize that it doesn’t  really matter what day it is, but I also know there’s still deadlines and projects looming. At least I have time to catch up on my reading!

Happy End of 2010!

Most of my week will be spent with friends and family, sharing good food, good stories, and this year, some good, vintage pictures. Maybe a few will make it up here. We’ll reminisce on this and past years, but also look ahead.  I’m especially looking forward to tomorrow when I expect to receive my first shipment of copies of my book. Those New Year’s resolutions are coming…but I’m not thinking about those just yet!

So, between Christmas and New Year’s, I wish you Happy End of 2010, and all the best for 2011.

Robin

  1. Are you SURE you don’t want to put your children on sale? Hee hee. I have to work this week but hardly any of my clients are showing up so it’s kind of silly for me to be here! That will be exciting when you’re holding your book in your hands. Happy New Year!
